SOULFOOD

SoulFood serves hot, nutritious meals to some of the most vulnerable members of our community four days a week. Over time, many have come to see our team as true lifesavers.

At Soul Food we are passionate about love being practical, not just fine words. That is why come rain or shine our volunteers will be dishing up free food with a smile. Irrespective of public holidays, Christmas day or New Year’s Day or volunteers show up.

As part of this work, donated food is also freely distributed to anyone who needs extra support through the SoulFood Van, which is parked in a car park on Tuesday evenings

Faith in action becomes a hot meal and an open hand

OUR STORY

We have been offering friendship, hope and support to the homeless in Weymouth for about 22 years. Since the fire destroyed the Prayerhouse in 2019, Soul Food itself has also experienced an extended period of homelessness, with our team serving from a van, or from the back of a car in a car park, to various borrowed venues. At present we are the grateful to be able to operate from the building of Weymouth Family Church also known as Bethany Hall. During Covid we continued to operate and extended our services to delivering food in the Chapelhay area, initially twice a week. This has continued, but is now once a week. We are able to regularly support Afghan and Ukrainian refugee families. We deliver donated food to a couple of schools and kids clubs and many individual families receive food parcels.

If you need support, or know someone who does, please don’t hesitate to contact us
